Lately the Lord has been convicting me in how I use my time and what I fill my mind with.
Believe it or not but I have actually started thinking that I'm doing much better in this area of my life.
But according to whom? According to whose standard? I have this problem (and I don't think I only speak for myself :), I compare myself with others around me. And I don't mean the world now - oh no! I mean Christians! Christians that are labeled as Godly leaders! But in fact, when you get to know them better - I mean off the stage - you realize they're just like you and I.
But every now and then, God sends a messenger into my life - mainly through youtube :-) - where I am challenged to stick to the Scripture and allow THAT mirror show me how I'm truly doing. And once again, I found myself humbled, realizing all I can do in my life is BEG for God's mercy - to sanctify me more in and through His power and grace alone. The standard, my dear friend, the one that we find in God's Word -
we (in our own selves) will NEVER be able to measure up to it!!! Because it is the perfect and spotless lamb of God - Lord Jesus Christ.
So I encourage you and myself today - whenever we start thinking we're doing pretty good (in comparison to others around us), look at Christ. See His beauty... His perfection... His purity.. The purity of His mind and heart. So don't fill yours with junk such as perverted TV shows and all sorts of movies that have nothing to offer except DRAIN you and suck the life out of you. It's not fitting for you and I. We've been paid for - with a far greater cost than we can truly EVER comprehend!!!
Run to Him, repent and start getting filled with God's Word and spending time in prayer. What you fill your mind with is who you are - and your life will show it! :-)
